Chairman Wang Xiaoshu’s Remarks:

Distinguished guests, friends, ladies and gentlemen,

Good morning!

Today, we gather to discuss how to use culture as a bridge to deepen understanding and friendship between China and Nepal, two friendly neighbors. I would like to share my thoughts on how to leverage the Belt and Road Initiative, unleash the vitality of the Greater Bay Area Artists Alliance, and utilize the platform of the Asian Biennale to jointly promote cultural exchange and cooperation between China and Nepal.

First, the Belt and Road Initiative is not only a grand blueprint for promoting infrastructure connectivity and economic development, but also a cultural bond that connects civilizations and strengthens people-to-people bonds. It inherits the spirit of the ancient Silk Road and advocates peace, cooperation, openness, inclusiveness, mutual learning, and mutual benefit. Within this framework, the long-standing cultural exchanges between China and Nepal have ushered in new historical opportunities. We should fully utilize this platform to encourage and support broader and deeper dialogue between our two countries’ cultural institutions, art groups, and peoples, so that the trans-Himalayan friendship can flourish with new brilliance in the new era.

Secondly, the innovative and dynamic Greater Bay Area Artists Alliance can become a significant force in promoting cultural exchange between China and Nepal. The Greater Bay Area brings together the essence of Chinese and international culture, and its artists are highly creative and adept at blending tradition and modernity, East and West. The Alliance can actively organize member visits to Nepal for creative work and exhibitions, and invite Nepalese artists to participate in residencies, exchanges, and collaborative projects. Through art, a language without borders, we can jointly depict the magnificent landscapes of both countries, tell moving folk tales, explore contemporary issues of mutual concern, and create masterpieces that reflect China-Nepal friendship and foster a spiritual connection.

Furthermore, international art platforms such as the Asian Biennale provide excellent venues for showcasing our achievements, pooling our wisdom, and expanding our influence. We can collaborate with our Nepalese colleagues on these high-profile platforms to curate special exhibitions or forums themed around China-Nepal cultural exchange. This will not only showcase the rich cultural heritage of China and Nepal to Asia and the world, sharing our experiences and reflections on cultural heritage and innovation, but will also attract greater international attention to China-Nepal friendship and inspire more institutions and individuals to participate in cultural exchange between the two countries.

Friends,

Cultures are enriched through exchanges, and civilizations are enriched through mutual learning. Both China and Nepal have time-honored histories and splendid cultures, and are vital components of human civilization. Through the policy guidance of the Belt and Road Initiative, leveraging the creative practice of the Greater Bay Area Artists Alliance, and leveraging the extensive influence of international platforms such as the Asian Biennale, we are confident that we can:
